Executive Board Northern District of the Florida Shuffleboard Association                                                                                                             

October 23, 2010 A regular meeting of the Executive Board of the Northern District of the Florida Shuffleboard Association was called to order at 9:04 AM Saturday, October 23, 2010 by President Walter Stoddard at the Deland Shuffleboard Club. All members were present except Bill Boyes who hasn’t made it down to Florida yet.

A silent prayer was observed for our invocation and President Walt lead us in the pledge to the flag.

Leo Gagnon moved, Al Bessette seconded, and it was carried that we dispense with the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting.

Gale Lynch was installed as 3rd vice President by Leo Gagnon.

Treasurer’s report will be presented by Ann Mazzola with an ending balance as of September 30, 2010 was $3962.26. It was moved by R. Robinson, seconded by Dora Wilkinson and carried to accept the treasurer’s report.

Officer Reports 1st VP Bill Boyes - absent 2nd VP Pat King - report at general meeting 3rd VP Gale Lynch report at general meeting 4th VP Leo Gagnon - The proposed tournament schedule and director schedule for the 2011 - 2012 season are completed and will be distributed to clubs at the general meeting. Keeper of Records Jack Wooten - everything is fine State Delegate Allan Bessette - report will be given at the regular meeting Committee reports - none Old Business - none Correspondence - none . New Business It was moved by Leo Gagnon and seconded by Pat King that the Executive Committee recommend the Coronado November 18th tournament be moved to Mainland. The motion was carried.

Moved by Robert Robinson, seconded by Gale Lynch that the Northern District support the Deland Shuffleboard Club bid to host the 2011-12 State Amateur Redline Singles Toernament. The motion was carried.

General Meeting Northern District of the Florida Shuffleboard Association

A regular meeting of the of the Northern District of the Florida Shuffleboard Association was called to order at 10:00 am Saturday, October 23, 2010 by President Walter Stoddard at the Deland Shuffleboard Club.

A silent prayer was observed for our invocation and President Walt lead us in the pledge to the flag.

Roll was called of representatives of clubs with 12 present.

Moved by Leo Gagnon, seconded by Pat King, and carried to dispense with the reading of the previous meeting.

Ann Mazzola presented the Treasurer’s report with a balance on hand of $3962.26. It was moved by Leo Gagnon, seconded by Pat King, and carried to accept the Treasurer’s report.

Officer Reports 1st Vice President Bill Boyes - absent 2nd Vice President Pat king - “Preview” are available. 3rd Vice President Gale Lynch - Would like copies of any press coverage a club receives. 4th Vice President Leo Gagnon - 2011-12 tentative tournament schedule was handed out to club representatives. Requests for changes should be submitted no later than January 1, 2011 with the schedule to be voted on at the January meeting. This year there is a 5 point penalty for using cell phones when playing. Keeper of Records Jack Wooten - 1 new pro, 1 new state amateur so far. State Delegate Allan Bessette - Allan Besstte attended the state meeting in Sebring on October 16th. 1. All Lake Worth state tournaments will be held at Boynton Beach shuffleboard club. Correspondence - Richie Burrell has information from the International Association regarding participation in next summer’s event in Nova Scotia.

New business The Coronado shuffleboard courts are under reconstruction. The first tournament at Coronado on November 18th will be held at Mainland.

Ann Mazzola has a survey for clubs to fill out and return to the Deland Shuffleboard Club regarding their single/mingle tournaments.

The book “The History of Florida Shuffleboard” is available to the District for free now.

The chair appointed a nominating committee of Richie Burrell, Fred Neuman and Al Wilkinson.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:58 am.
